The Ehsaas Program is a poverty alleviation and social
protection initiative launched by the Government of Pakistan in 2019. The
program aims to reduce poverty, inequality, and social exclusion by providing
financial assistance and support to the vulnerable segments of society, including
women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
The program consists of several components, including:
Cash Transfer Program: The cash transfer program provides
financial assistance to eligible families through various initiatives, such as
the Kafaalat program, which provides a monthly stipend to women from low-income
households, and the Emergency Cash Program, which provides one-time cash grants
to those affected by natural disasters, economic shocks, or health emergencies.
Ehsaas Langar Scheme: This program provides free meals to
the needy and underprivileged at designated locations across the country.
Ehsaas Nashonuma Program: This program provides nutrition
and health support to pregnant and lactating women and children under the age of
two.
Ehsaas Interest-Free Loan Program: This program provides
interest-free loans to small business owners and entrepreneurs to help them
grow and expand their businesses.
Ehsaas Amdan Program: This program aims to provide job
training and employment opportunities to people from low-income households.
Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program: This program was launched in
response to the COVID-19 pandemic and provided financial assistance to daily
wage earners, laborers, and people who lost their jobs due to the lockdown.
Under this program, over 16 million people received cash grants.
Kifalat Program: This program provides financial assistance
to poor women across the country. The program aims to empower women and help
them become financially independent. Under this program, eligible women receive
a monthly stipend of PKR 2,000 (around USD 13).
Panagahs (Shelter Homes): The Ehsaas Program also provides
shelter homes for homeless and destitute people in major cities across the
country. The shelter homes provide food, shelter, and basic facilities to those
in need.
One Window Ehsaas: This program aims to simplify and
streamline the process of accessing social welfare services. Under this
program, people can access all Ehsaas services and programs through a single
portal or office.
Ehsaas Scholarship Program: This program provides financial
assistance to deserving students from low-income households to help them
continue their education. Under this program, eligible students receive a
monthly stipend and other incentives.
The Ehsaas Program is a comprehensive social safety net that
aims to reduce poverty and improve the standard of living for the most
vulnerable segments of society. The program is a step towards creating a more
equitable and just society where everyone has equal access to basic rights and
services.
The Ehsaas Program is the largest social protection
initiative in Pakistan's history, and it has already helped millions of people
across the country. The program's ultimate goal is to create a more inclusive
and equitable society where everyone has equal access to basic rights and
services.
